Just Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep

I am not a laid back person. As much as I'd like to be, I'm just not. I like to know what's coming. I like to be ready. I like to make plans. I like to be organized. All these things cause me to worry because no matter if I can see it coming, if I'm ready, or if I've made plans, there are many things I can't control. Quite frankly in the Army there is about nothing you can control. I try my darndest to go with the flow, really I do.
Looking back I'm going to have to give myself a pat on the back and say that I've gotten so much better at "going with the flow" than I used to be. That being said, it is never easy. I'm afraid it's something Heavenly Father is going to continue to teach me.

Sometimes I have bad days. We all do. However, I feel like bad days come much more often when your sweetheart isn't by your side. Every once in a while someone will notice and ask "what's the matter?". Funny thing is there's no explaining it. There is nothing to say. It's simple.
I miss my sweetheart. And sometimes I worry about him.

Now don't you start to feel sorry for me. That is the last thing I want. And most of the time that is the main reason why I keep my bad days to myself. Because there is a cure! I've found it, and I'm going to share it with you.

It's simple.

As you can see, this remedy is so effective that I've devoted an entire wall to it. It works people! It's all about happy thoughts. That and blue mason jars filled with Easter M&Ms. Ha!!!

Both versions of the "Count Your Blessings" songs are my favorite. I absolutely love them both! If I was forced to pick my favorite hymn, that would be it. Page 241. You know how at the top of the page on every song there is an emotion or feeling that is labeled for how the song is to be sung? Well, at the top of "Count Your Blessings" it says, "Brightly". Some songs say thoughtfully, reverently, meekly, joyfully...etc. But "Count Your Blessings" says "Brightly". I love that. Definitely a Jessica song.
Here lately though I've grown very fond of Bing Crosby's version from "White Christmas". He has such a dreamy voice. When my mind is racing or I find myself tossing and turning, I just turn on that song. Sometimes it takes a few times, but it always helps. That and a little prayer.

"When I'm worried and I can't sleep
I count my blessings instead of sheep

and I fall asleep counting my blessings.

When my bankroll is getting small

I think of when I had none at all
and I fall asleep counting my blessings.

I think about a nursery,
and I picture curly heads,
and one by one I count them
as they slumber in their beds.

If you're worried and you cant sleep,
just count your blessings instead of sheep
and you'll fall asleep counting your blessings."

So, if you're worried and you can't sleep just count your blessings instead of sheep and you'll fall asleep counting your blessings.
