Ranger School Targets

Photobucket

I've been thinking about whether or not I should share these with the world (aka- whoever reads this!) seeing as my goals are normally personal to me.  But, after doing some research on goal setting in the "Preach my Gospel" manual and random searched talks on the LDS.org website, I finally decided that I would share them.  Because in my own experience, I've found that when I chose to rely solely on my own strength I normally don't get very far.  So, with the help my my Savior and all of you, I hope to accomplish a few goals!
Setting goals has always been an awesome way for me to stay happy and focused on good things. When I set good goals and master them, I feel like I'm getting closer to the person Heavenly Father wants me to be.  And since Tyler is gone working on accomplishing the GINORMOUS goal of Ranger School, I thought now would be a good time to set some goals for myself. That being said- I don't know about any of you but I tend to set goals a little too high and then get discouraged when I don't do as well as I would have liked- so I've thought long and hard about setting "reachable" goals for myself.  And I think I finally know what I'm aiming at.

Targets are:
1. Spiritual Goal- Walk by faith
    - Other than Scripture Power time with Rachel- have personal Scripture Power time every day
    - Pray more frequently to myself and thank Heavenly Father every chance I get
    - Give myself compliments.  Don't allow myself to get depressed over my pregnant/postpartum body.
2. Physical Goal- Feel confident about my health and environment
   - Continue to exercise every day
   - Keep preparing home for new baby!
   - start a Daddy book and/or work on Rachel's scrapbook
3. Fun Goal- Simplify Life: Choose the better part
   - One fun planned activity each week. Something besides the usual hangout spots.
   - Learn one new photography skill each week
   - Make a new friend!
   - Be a good friend
4. Mommy Goal- Make sure my girls always know their Mommy loves them
   - No Yelling! (I know it's horrible, but I do struggle with my temper) And if I lose it- apologize!
   - Read books to Rachel every day- continue to work on animals, colors, and letters
   - Do Rachel's hair every day
   - make yummy dinners every now and then
   - take the time to enjoy bedtime
Lastly- Score myself on how I did each week before Sacrament meeting. Which probably means Saturday night, seeing as Sundays are such a blur with a toddler!
Targets identified! Now it's time for a bullseye! :)

Alright now people--- Yes YOU! Leave a comment! I don't know what it is about comments but they make me so happy- happier than a bird with a french fry! And well I could certainly use a dose of happy. Or maybe just a french fry! haha!  So go ahead, don't be shy.

I love it! I need to do the same. It is one of the FEW good things about being apart... You have time to really focus on improving yourself and relying more on our Savior.
Call me sometime!
Good luck!

Wow! We have so much in common right now, haha...I've been busy setting myself some goals as well for many of the same reasons as you! Keep it up girl! You'll do great! And these are awesome, and obtainable, goals to work on!! :)

Oh, Jess, you are my new favorite person! I love following your blog!

(You have adorable ankles, by the way. I am an authority on this, because I was a whale of a pregnant person...five times!)

My favorite part about your goal plan is to evaluate them every week at a specified time. I think I'll follow your lead and do the same. Thanks for sharing your plan because it helps me!

You're wonderful!! Now, go through a drive-thru and buy only french fries (they're like a buck) and give them to Rachel, except for one, that you feed to a bird out in the back yard :).

Love you!

Totally agree! Having goals gives you something to be excited about in the morning...and right now that's a good thing to have :) Great goals, you can do it. And I bet if you do these things you will be happier than a bird with a french fry. Ha ha that make me laugh! I know I love comments, too. SO GOOD to talk to you today!

Those are great goals! I need to do something like that. For the record, I think you are absolutely awesome for doing the pregnancy/mommy thing solo for so long.

Love it! I love that you were willing to share your goals. I love seeing authentic blogs, the ones that tell it like it is...that life isn't perfect!

We just had an amazing enrichment last night, and I love that you set reachable goals! Rachel Blakeney is in my ward and she told me that you are living so close to us while Tyler is away...we should all get together! Let me know you cute girl!

You are SO good. I love the re-evaluating thing!! I always half-way do that....but I should just plan on it, like you. Thanks for the great ideas. Love the goals as well. OH and by the way, YOUR PICTURES ARE AWESOME. If only I knew how to do that. One day I am going to get a good camera and learn! It's on my life's to-do list. Your little family is darling. I'm so excited for baby #2. Congrats!!

French Fries are ok, but maybe you could come on down- buy a bog of chips and make more Texas caviar! Way to go on the goals. Mine are more simple-

*Start making dinner again
*Stay sane
*Stop studying long enough to make everyone feel important when they walk in the door

My goals are also usually pretty personal so I think you're quite brave posting them. They are all achievable. Good luck!

Jess, I think you're doing it just the way the scriptures say to: line upon line, precept upon precept. Plus, I think you have the tanacity to accomplish anything you want :). Thanks for your blog. We all enjoy it!!
