Luke William Payne

Our little man is finally here!!!

Much like the night before I went in to have Maggie; I couldn't sleep a wink. Not to mention I was the most uncomfortable I have been the entire pregnancy in those last few hours. I'm sure that those little babies know they're about to be here and they are as anxious and jittery as you are. Two anxious jittery bodies in one makes for a long night.
I got up at 4am to shower and make the final preparations.
And then we headed to the hospital!
This is right before they wheeled me into the operating room…
WE'RE GOING TO HAVE A BOY!
 photo DSC_6628copy_zps8ea61c03.jpg
I'm going to take a minute here and speak a little about my C-Section experiences.  Having Rachel was an extremely painful experience for me- emotionally and physically. I agonized for years after having to have an emergency C-Section with her, mostly because I feel so strongly that it could have been avoided. Sometimes I feel as if something so sacred- natural childbirth- as been denied me. Every time I become pregnant this sorrow comes back and I fight feelings of trying to go for a natural birth regardless of the risks. However, every time I pray I know that this isn't the answer for our situation.
I am a very strong and independent person. I like to get things done myself.
But this is something that I've have to lean completely on the Lord and my husband to overcome.
With all this being said, I move forward and think of all the positive and beautiful moments I've had with my C-Sections. Each time it gets easier- mostly because I know how to prepare myself and because I research and find the best doctors. I am so grateful for my opportunity to be a Mother and a healthy body that allows me to have children. I still am in awe in all that the human body is capable of, and how quickly people can heal. It's just remarkable.
The fun part about C-Sections is knowing when the magic is going to happen. I love the knowing. As we drive to the hospital and the moment draws closer and closer, there's a spirit in the air that can't be denied.
This time was the best of all because this time Tyler got to be here with me. For Rachel, I was put under and neither of us experienced her first moments. For Maggie, Tyler was at Ranger School. And this time for our Luke, we both got to do it together.
There was a peace that came over me as soon as Tyler entered the operating room and they began the procedure. My amazing doctor had the biggest smile and my husband was squeezing my hand.
Doesn't get much better than that!
And then, before we knew it… Luke arrived!
A whopping 7lbs 14 oz! 20 inches long!
 photo DSC_6670copy_zpsd7450dea.jpg
It felt like an eternity before they handed him to me, although it was only a few minutes.
For me, this is the strongest craving, biggest urge, and most earnest desire I've ever felt----
GIVE ME MY BABY!
 photo DSC_6677copy_zpse420bc2d.jpg
First kiss…
 photo DSC_6676copy_zps4ae55679.jpg
After my first kiss the whisked him away to check his lungs… he wasn't crying as loud as they would have liked due to the amniotic fluid in his lungs.
Tyler got to go back with him while I was still getting stitched up.
He took lots of cute pictures… only MINUTES OLD!!!
 photo DSC_6682copy_zpsc125f05d.jpg
They kept trying to make him cry but he wasn't having it…
"What do ya'll people want? I'm chilling out here!" hehe
 photo DSC_6681copy_zps7a482965.jpg
I was going crazy in recovery waiting for them to come back.
Luke will you please cry for the doctors?
Then came all my demanding texts to Tyler---
I WANT TO HOLD MY BABY! Give me my baby! What in the world is taking so long? Is he okay??? Punch a nurse and bring him to me now! (okay, not that one but I thought about it… haha)
Isn't he the cutest baby ever???!!!
 photo DSC_6678copy_zpsa5a3b212.jpg
Awwwww, finally.
Hey there little man, I've waiting a long time to hold you in my arms.

Momma and baby…
 photo DSC_6686copy_zps18a8ec2d.jpg
We did it!… Again!

Having a few peaceful moments with Daddy before the girls arrive...
 photo DSC_6726copy_zps5e3fa488.jpg
We could hear the girls coming from all the way down the hall. It was like a stampede!
Of course Rachel was more than ready to finally hold her baby brother.
 photo DSC_6698copy_zpsb01e6a27.jpg
She's been asking every night before bedtime for months now…
"And when is Luke coming again, Mom?"
Look at her face… love at first sight.
 photo DSC_6699copy_zps62821279.jpg
Kisses for Luke...
 photo DSC_6705copy_zps0ee5bde0.jpg
Maggie's turn to hold him!
She thought he was pretty cool too...
 photo DSC_6708copy_zps4aaab3e7.jpg
She loves the baby… but gets tired of him real quick. Unlike Rachel who is willing to pass on dinner to keep holding the baby.
 photo DSC_6709copy_zpse9fb8412.jpg
Counting fingers and toes… Yep, they're all there!

Nana and Pop with their first grandson...

Grandma Payne getting her first dose of little Luke… with Rachel nearby of course...

The next couple days in the hospital were wonderful with Tyler there.
He was so helpful and supportive. Made me feel like a champ when I stood up for the first time, encouraged me as I took my first unbearably slow walk around the nursing station, and held me up as I cried in the shower. Oh and don't forget assured me I was as beautiful as ever and that I'd be feeling better in no time.
Husband of the year???… ahhh, YEAH!
 photo DSC_6734copy_zpsea07e9a9.jpg
I always forget just how tiny those little feet are.
Pure perfection.

Welcome to the Payne Family little Luke!
We love you more than you'll ever know.

Friday Night at the Park

She insisted that I give her pigtails and then she stuck that bow on top of her head.
She wore it like that all day.
Funny girl.
 photo DSC_6503_zps13c23e67.jpg
I love me a happy Maggie...
 photo DSC_6506_zps8dd607d6.jpg
Beautiful evening to spend playing at the park! I am loving this weather!
 photo DSC_6509_zpsa2b0996f.jpg
Love this one!
Caught the little chin chubs! hehe...
 photo DSC_6516_zpsdce79211.jpg
"Mom, take a picture of me! Mom, I'm over here! Mom, look at this!"
She is one cute mess!
 photo DSC_6525_zpsa28a5ba4.jpg
All the other Moms shun their little kids away from the pole, but do I?
Couldn't if I tried. The girl has some dare devil in her blood.
 photo DSC_6551_zps782cf0df.jpg
Whew!!! Go Maggie!
 photo DSC_6555_zpsd21fbcb4.jpg
Beautiful shot!
Frolicking through the fields... oh Rachel, please never grow up.
 photo DSC_6567_zpsecf58b64.jpg
Miss Maggie is in park heaven...
 photo DSC_6588_zpsd0049ec0.jpg
hahahaha! OH THIS PICTURE!
Not posed!
She was actually kissing her guns. So my daughter.
 photo DSC_6602_zps7170ab1a.jpg
Alright girls! Time to go home!
And this is how Maggie carries her shoes to the car... she never ceases to make me smile.
Goodnight all!

Preschool!

The Preschool decision! I struggled and struggled with deciding what to do with Rachel this year.
Put her in a preschool program? 2, 3, 5 days a week???
Do something on my own?
And then the Co-op option came up! A few other ladies in the ward and I got together and planned out lesson plans and dates and got started. I was very hesitant about this; unsure if I could be any good at this... but I have to say that it has worked out great so far! On my days to teach my house is an absolute wreck, I'm sweating, and normally dozzeling a cherry coke! haha! But I always feel happy and accomplished. I like the way my mother-in-law put it--- It's like scheduling a date with motherhood. I just love that.

Rachel is always ESTATIC to get to preschool! She loves going to her friends house and learning new things! She looks forward to it every Tuesday and Thursday! ;)

 photo DSC_6463_zps2de3b48e.jpg
Lucky for us Gwen's house is just right down the street!!! And my poor little Maggie! She gets sad every time Rachel goes to preschool without her. But I on the other hand love my Maggie alone time. It's been heavenly.

 photo DSC_6467_zpsa77abc90.jpg
Waiting for Mrs. Amanda to come pick her up and take her to preschool! I told her she still had 10 minutes but she insisted on waiting by the door anyway. She's growing up way too fast!

My CrossFit Pregnancy Journey: Final Chapter!

I've arrived.
I've arrived to that place where being a sleep deprived, postpartum, recovering Mommy sounds far better than being pregnant.
I've arrived to that wonderful land of "please let me be done already!".
Only 4 days left until I hold my little man and I can't wait to get this party started.
We are SO excited!!!!

Not only that but I can say loud and clear that I've accomplished my fitness goal of this pregnancy.
I have done CrossFit daily throughout these last 39 weeks!!!
WHOOP!!!

A few of us prego CrossFitters wanted to do a CrossFit baby shower. I suggested we do a baby WOD and make everyone wear balloons under their shirts! It was a HOOT!
Here is the workout:
Hilarious no? :)
 photo DSC_6239_zps31bf5667.jpg
The girls who didn't need balloons!
It has been so fun to share experiences and and figure out this whole- "CrossFit pregnancy" thing together! Often we'll facebook eachother and meet up at the same class time or gripe and complain about how much we have to scale down... and the list goes on and on.
I love these two!
 photo DSC_6235_zps8ec52df2.jpg
The whole "pregnant" group! hahaha!
 photo 1229931_10200512939573863_203205088_n_zps89b71eef.jpg
Tyler was such a cheater! I think he's carrying a little too high, don't ya think???
I was very tempted to stuff a 20lb sandbag under his shirt and secure it with duck tape... but I resisted.
 photo 1186136_10200512935173753_1774161225_n_zps296ca9fa.jpg
We made a good team. :)
Couples that CrossFit together, stay together.

Givin' those babies some love!
On a more serious note- I love this man so much. He has been so amazing during this pregnancy. Seriously ya'll, you have no idea how crazy I've been! I'm so thankful he is my best friend! He kicked me out the door every day to go to the gym! Now that folks it a best friend!
 photo Untitled-1_zps336e10ef.jpg
This is me at 36 wks doing push press during a WOD. I pushed pressed 75lbs over 70 times during that workout... and it felt good.
 photo 1240292_10202138537449501_2144017050_n_zps5a703aed.jpg
All four of the prego girls at the gym! This only happened once! And we got a picture!
yeah... who's the biggest? That would be me.

  • photo 1240192_10151941661816719_1390709269_n_zps065a1926.jpgI think it's funny that most of these pictures I wearing the same outfit. I think my coaches are more prone to snap a shot with that tank top on! haha! You can see my belly real good in that one compared to Tyler's large shirts I normally wear! haha!
Rowing has become quite the challenge as of late- I think this was the last time I rowed during a workout.
 photo IMG_1899_zpsaa3de058.jpg
Oh those kipping pull-ups! Gotta love them.
 photo IMG_1900_zpsd4bc3e72.jpg
My favorite workout partner!
Here's a story for you- you're going to think I'm crazy but I'm sure of it!
So normally I make the 4:30 workout but one day I was running late and had to miss it. Tyler and I were talking and laying on the bed when all of the sudden 4:30 went by and this little guy kicked and kicked like you wouldn't believe! He wouldn't quit!
As soon as I walked into the 5:30 class he immediately calmed down.
Best story ever right? hahaha
He gets angry without his workout!

Jessica K., Coach Amanda, and I
CrossFit Leander has the best coaches!
So I've got another story, I know you must be jumping out of you're seats! haha!
Yesterday (38.5 wks) just as soon as the time started and the WOD began a girl walked into the gym looks at me and exclaims, "OH MY GOSH! You haven't had that THING yet??"
I snapped.
I looked her in the eye and said, "The next person who says that to me is going to get punched in the face." I didn't laugh. Not even a smerk. I was dead serious. Then I continued with the WOD. Coach Amanda could see the, "I can't believe I just snapped at her" look on my face and said, "It's okay Jess. I don't blame you one bit." haha!
Now that's a supportive coach.
 photo 1004919_10103611429463284_1719519097_n_zps4bc36640.jpg
I'm ending the post with a bang!
I was insecure about it, but Tyler told me I must! So here we go!
We did a 1/2 Murph last week---
800m Run
50 pull-ups
100 push-ups
150 squats
800m Run
I pregnancy modified the run to a 4 minute power walk.
I did 30 kipping pull-ups out of the total 50.
My coach videoed me! It's super weird in slow motion, but also kind of awesome!
37 wks ya'll!!! ---
L

FOUR MORE DAYS GUYS!!!!!
Let the countdown begin!
I can't wait to hold my little man!!!!

Keep Calm and Take Pictures

I was cleaning the kitchen and listening to my "Hilary Weeks" Pandora station.
You know I'm desperate when I turn on Sunday music when it isn't Sunday.
Don't get me wrong, Hilary Weeks is great. But I'm more of a George Strait, Alan Jackson, or Alabama Pandora station kind of gal.
I was scrubbing and a little voice in my head told me to stop and take pictures.
So I did.

Look what I found?
Maggie doing something that she's not supposed to be doing.
Surprise, surprise.
With her hair tie ripped out yet again...
 photo DSC_6421_zpscae484c7.jpg
I felt so sneeky spying on the girls from the living room.
I'm so grateful they have eachother.
 photo DSC_6451_zpse0d8b839.jpg
And then Rachel caught me and said, "Mom, take a picture of me!"
I took the picture, then walked back inside to finish up the kitchen when I scrolled through my pictures to see if I got anything "blog worthy". Then I saw this one and almost started to cry. Dang hormones.
This picture took my breath away.
Thanks Rachel. ;)

So when you're listening to Sunday music on a Wednesday night, or feel as if the day will never end...
Keep Calm and Take Pictures.
Works for me.
