Capetown was awesome. It was definatly the nicest place we stayed. It is a very big city on the very southern tip of the African continent. It is very unique in that it has it's very own floral kingdom that can't be found any place else in the world. It is also a melting pot of many different cultures/tribes like the Zulu, Swazi, Dutch, English, Portuguese... (their are a bunch of others) We learned a lot about Apartheid (extreme segregation) that ended only in 1994. The country is still suffering from it's affects. We learned about Nelson Mandela and his experiances at Robben Island ( a jail for many political people during Apartheid).

We also saw hundreds of thousands of refugees living in tents and on the streets. All of these people have fled from their homeland because of war,and most of them were from Zimbabwe. This is a big problem in South Africa and it causing a lot of violence because the refugees are taking many of the South Africans jobs. It was a sight to see! All of the newspapers talked about "xenophobia" or fear of forgeiners. South Africa already has a huge violence/crime problem and this certainly is making it much worse.

Their are some very beautiful sites to see in Capetown! The two main ones are Table Mountain and Cape Point! They were gorgeous. I was also really bummed that we didn't get to cage diving with the Great Whites while we were there. The morning a couple of us got all ready to go it stormed!! And the day before people died because the boat tipped over! So, we decided that it probably wasn't such a good idea. haha, I figure thats something I'd want to do with Tyler anyway.

Our Puppy AJ is soooo cute!! She's been a good family dog. Tyler and I have been having fun practicing taking pictures with our new camera.

Ricky and Philesha's Wedding!

Ricky and Philesha were in our outfit V-1 in the Corps! They are so much fun, and they FINALLY (haha) got married. They tied the knot in the Old Post Chapel at Fort Hood, Texas. We made the trip up there on Friday. We had fun chillin with old Corps buddies. GIGEM AGS! WHOOP!

Mondays can be fun!

We are leaving for about a month and a half and we needed to clean out our fridge so we could turn it off! So, we invited people over to come eat our food! Not too many could come cuz of work, but we still had fun. We all fell asleep after a while from all the food and disney movies.

Friendly Visitors

For FHE a few weeks ago, Tyler and I went to Home Depot to get a hummingbird feeder! They have been really shy, but they finally come by more often. They are sooo cute! They make me think of my Nana because hummingbirds are her favorite! Hummingbirds are smallest bird weighing 2 GRAMS! crazy huh? They are also the only bird with hovering abilities (they can also fly backwards, vertical, horizontal...) Basically they're awesome. I've learned a lot about birds this semester, and I just love them. Especially their physiology... did you know that birds hearts are 50-100% larger compared to a mammal of the same size? And that their blood pressure is 2-3 times higher than ours! ... thats because their hearts have really thick walls and can take the pressure. They've got to have all of this stuff because they've got to pump more blood to sustain flight. I could keep going but I'm afraid ya'll are already bored. haha. ... oh, and the other picture is where a family of sparrows live in our roof, I have'nt been able to get a good picture of it yet.
