The Hazards of Wearing a Dress

Since I've been married, I've become more girly.  I don't know when or how that switch turned on, but now I can say that I like getting dressed up and lookin' pretty. What can I say, it just feels good. Putting on a little makeup in the morning makes me feel more put together and ready to go.  However, I still can only take wearing a dress or skirt for so long.  Maggie understands the feeling.  She gets so frustrated every time I put a dress on her because her legs get all caught up in it as she crawls.  So, I came up with a quick fix...

Ain't nothing going to stop me now...Photobucket

If only I could do that.

The Whole Package!

This is probably my favorite park here in Weatherford because it's a splash-pad and park all in one.  It's the WHOLE package! When you get bored of the splash-pad, you put your flippers on and head to the park.  It's a great go-to for summertime.

too much fun...

Maggie's first swing shots... priceless.

Mama, Mama, I can smile real big too! (somebody was a little jealous)

I am in love with this picture...

I have just one more thing to say, I just can't help it! Rachel said her first prayer tonight without any help! It made me soooo happy. I just can't describe the happiness. It went like this...
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank Thee for day, food, obey happy all day.
In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

I love being a Mommy.

they come, they eat, they leave

These little boogers destroyed the garden...

They are everywhere! Seriously, there were about 100 in this one bush...

But, you've gotta admit, they are pretty cool lookin'...

Sheriffs Posse Rodeo

I love the rodeo and I love being a Texan. oh yeah.
Tyler was going to be at drill the weekend of the rodeo, and I was so bummed! But Tyler or no Tyler, I was going to the rodeo.  It was something I had been looking forward to for a long time.  Luckily, Alisha and I turned it into a girls night and it was a blast. I love the feel of a small town rodeo... all the country-folk, cowboy boots, and thick accents.  Yeehaw!!!
Photobucket
Alisha and I... I am so lucky to have Alisha for a friend and running buddy.  We go running just about every single day.
Photobucket
The calf scramble! One of my favorites!  They let all the kids in the stands ages 7-14 go try and catch a calf. They also had a goat scramble for kids ages 3-7... so dang cute.  I can't wait for Rachel to do it!
Photobucket
I was stubborn and insisted on keeping my camera on manual mode... even though I have no practice with action shots in low light... oh well, try not to get a headache when you look at these...
Photobucket
Do you know why bulls get so darn mad?  Tyler enlightened me at the Houston Rodeo a few years ago.  Let's just say it made me cringe... no wonder.

God Bless Texas!

Looking for something?

I bet I know where it is...
Photobucket
These days Rachel's room sounds like a construction site during naptime, and that is just what it is.  All of my Mommy instincts told me to go stop her, but NO this is my naptime too!
Photobucket
I told her that if she did this again I'd take all her toys away.  And she did it again...so I took all the toys away.  I've gotta mean what I say. But I will say this- I'm going to kind of miss the sight of my baby sleeping in the middle of all that.  She cracks me up.

Where did Maggie go?

"Where did Maggie go?" is something I find myself saying a lot lately.  I put her down in one room and the next minute she's in another and... she is fast. Tyler and I caught her stand up from the ground and just stand there for about 2 seconds before she toppled over.  Are you kidding me?  Holy Smokes that blew me away! She just loves to stand up on everything.  She is so much fun right now... I LOVE IT!  Don't get me wrong, I love the newborn stage, but I love love love when babies start moving and grooving. I suspect Maggie will be an early walker like Rachel, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Beautiful Maggie Ila... if only those chunky thighs looked that good on me! haha

Daddy's Girl

I can't believe that I can actually remember this, I must have been around five years old... Anyway, I remember asking my Daddy if we could get married when I grew up.  He said no, he was married to Mommy.  Then I asked him if he loved Mommy more than me.  He said yes, he will always love Mommy most. I was devastated.  How could he love anyone more than me?  I mean, I loved him more than anyone else.  He then told me that one day I would meet my sweetheart and I would love him most.  I sort of understood.
I am and will always be a Daddy's girl.  I remember doing just about everything together growing up.  I loved going on long drives with my Dad, playing catch, and going fishing.  He is my biggest fan and I can't remember a single volleyball match, softball game, or wrestling tournament where he wasn't there routing me on.  I told him everything; my hopes, my dreams... and he always helped me make them come true.  He was my very best friend, that is until I met Tyler Payne.  Now I completely understand.  I love him most.

These two men have been my everything. I have and continue to learn so much from them.  They are amazing fathers. Thank you for always making my dreams come true.

Happy Father's Day!

Sorry Pop, I didn't get this in the mail fast enough.  This will have to do... WE LOVE YOU!!!Photobucket

the crinkle nose

Crinkle nose's are my favorite.  Do all babies do this?  I know I did, Rachel did, and now Maggie.  Maggie's was a little different though... along with the crinkle nose and big smile would be a whole lot of snorting!  haha.  It was hilarious! Oh, I wish she still did it, it was so stinking cute! I've tried and tried to get her to do it today, but it just wasn't the same. It's funny how babies do something one week and the next week they're on to something else.

here she goes...

money money money

A while ago I decided to give Rachel a lesson on saving her money.  I love giving little lessons, and watching the wheels turn in that toddler brain of hers. I handed her a dime and told her it was money and that when we get money we save it in our piggy banks.  That was pretty much it.  I didn't go into tithing or why we don't just spend it... It was simple, we put our money in our piggy banks until we need it.  I figured that was enough of a lesson for now.

Since then every piece of loose change lying around the house becomes the property of Rachel's piggy bank. Oh the excitement from finding a penny!  Not only that, but occasionally I will find her looking through my purse (good luck there honey), grandma's purse, and daddy's wallet for money. She has acquired quite the loot.  $9.52 total.
Once she finds some change, I hear "money! put in the piggy!" and there we go to the piggy...

Look at that greedy little smile...

Lesson learned.  Now for the lesson on lying, cheating, and stealing.

Monday Blasters

I can't say that Mondays are my favorite, but there are some good things about Monday. One of those things is FHE (family home evening).  Thanks to Mom Payne and the Dollar Store we had a pretty fun activity.  It's amazing the things you can find at the Dollar Store, and this time it was water blaster guns... oh yeah.

Rachel with her "special treat" after nap-time.... everyone needs a special treat every once in a while, right? The ring-pop was definitely a hit, that is until it broke...
Photobucket
Believe it or not, this is the first time Rachel has had her toes done... the heart was a hit!  I love these little toes...
Photobucket
Quit taking pictures and jump with me Mom!
Photobucket
Can't get me...
Photobucket
A-Ha! Gotcha!
Photobucket
How the water fight began... it was not in the plan to have Maggie in this shot, oh my poor baby, welcome to the Payne family...
Photobucket
Thankfully Teancum realized Joseph was holding Maggie, and mostly missed her...
Photobucket
Gutless... using the baby as protection... She looks very worried and I don't blame her.
Photobucket
My wet, happy baby...
Photobucket
run, run, run
Photobucket
oh yeah, get rid of those blasters and just take the hose, that's the way to go...
Photobucket
Pay back for all those dirty dishes...

What is the gospel lesson that goes with this activity you ask?  The Gospel is a blast.  Works for me.  ;)

half of one.

Yep, my Maggie girl is 6 months old... two days ago that is.  I always forget to ask about percentiles when I'm at the doctor and it drives me crazy, so I took Maggie in and asked to use the scale.  The nurse asked if I had an appointment to which I replied, "nope, just wanna know how much my baby weighs".  Well alrighty then, go ahead.  Don't mind if I do. And here they are, the final calculations...

Weight: 17.4 pounds- 75th Percentile
Length: 28 inches- 95th Percentile
Head Circumference: 43 cm- 75 Percentile
Wooah! ... "my gosh, girl you huge" (name that movie!)...alright, alright, I can't help it, I'll tell you... Madagascar, (I love the hippo scene) haha.

Maggie is and has always been a superduper happy baby.  Always.  I've thought and thought about how to explain it, and I think I've got it...  she is the eye of my storm.  Since I got pregnant with her my life has been like a tornado.  Fierce, unexpected, and always changing directions.  But she has been my peace, my calm place, the eye of my storm.  I can always count on her to put a smile on my face, and she never lets me down.  I can't imagine life without this little peacemaker in our home.

I've fussed and fussed over these pictures tonight... something about the lighting and colors just bugs me, but I've spent way too long messing with it and I'm done.  However, the subject couldn't be more perfect...
Photobucket

ahh, that smile! I get these alllllll day long.  Never get's old.
Photobucket

She's sitting up now (obviously, haha), crawling (not too fast yet, though), army-man crawling (you know, like she's crawling under barbed wire), getting up on her hands and feet, and will even stand up on me when I'm laying down. She loves her rice cereal!  I think she's going through a growth spurt because the girl just can't get enough these days. I think it's time for baby food.
Photobucket
I love that chubby belly and those legs!  They look mighty tasty. ;)
Photobucket
Oh, Maggie how I love you.
